If your team were 31-0 down at half time would your leadership get them back in the game?
What an unbelievable game of rugby between England and Scotland in this years Six Nations. Without doubt this game will be talked about for years to come in many different ways.
As someone who works with many different teams, all of them looking to drive high performance, this game provided as many questions as it did examples of outstanding Leadership.
What was the half time talk that inspired Scotland to go out and deliver the performance of their lives in the first 20 minutes of the second half?
What were the conversations going on in the heads of each individual player that drove their belief in the possibility of winning the game?
How did George Ford keep so focused that with 2 minutes to go and 38 points scored against them since England last got a point he scored the last, try of the game to take it to 36- 38 in the last two minutes of the game and converted it to take Scotland to a 38:38 draw?
What it did demonstrate was that with the right conversations, whether they be from the leader or individuals, either to the team or with yourself we can achieve what to many would seem to be impossible or at the very least unlikely. What are the conversations you need to have next week with yourself or your team that will inspire performance that currently seem impossible or at the very least unlikely?
